Job Title: Foreman Department: Ferro Alloys unit / Mechanical Location: Industrial Growth Centre, Industrial Road, Phase II Siltara, Sondra, Chhattisgarh 492001 Reports To: Maintenance Manager / Facilities Supervisor Job Summary: The Mechanical Foreman oversees and coordinates the work of mechanical maintenance and repair personnel, ensuring safe, efficient, and effective operations of HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical systems across university buildings and facilities. This role involves supervising technicians, managing daily work schedules, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and coordinating with contractors and project managers. Key Responsibilities: Supervise, schedule, and assign tasks to mechanical staff including HVAC technicians, plumbers, and general maintenance workers. Perform inspections and troubleshoot mechanical systems such as heating, cooling, ventilation, and plumbing systems. Ensure that all maintenance and repair work complies with safety standards, codes, and university policies. Maintain records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on various jobs. Coordinate with engineering, custodial, and electrical teams on interdisciplinary projects. Assist in planning and implementing preventative maintenance programs. Train and mentor staff in safety procedures and mechanical systems troubleshooting. Order and maintain an inventory of parts, tools, and equipment. Provide input on budgeting and resource needs for mechanical maintenance operations. Respond to emergency maintenance issues during and after hours when necessary. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical systems preferred. Minimum 5 years of mechanical maintenance experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including HVAC, boilers, chillers, pumps, valves, and control systems. Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Proficient in the use of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Working Conditions: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks. May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.
