Role Overview

Research Intern – Telemetry


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and enhancement of telemetry data collection methods for servers, networks, and applications.
  • Research and document telemetry standards, protocols, and industry best practices (e.g., SNMP, NetFlow, OpenTelemetry).
  • Perform hands-on data validation, formatting, and normalization from various telemetry sources.
  • Support the development and testing of telemetry dashboards and reporting modules.
  • Conduct benchmarking studies to evaluate system performance under different telemetry configurations.
  • Create detailed documentation of findings, methodologies, and recommendations for internal teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve data ingestion, accuracy, and retention workflows.


Qualifications

  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology, or related fields.
  • Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, SNMP, packet flow, ports, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Linux environments and basic shell scripting.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic understanding of telemetry tools or monitoring systems (such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry) is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and meet research timelines.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.


Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Exposure to system monitoring, logging, or metrics collection frameworks.
  • Experience with configuration and data parsing tools (e.g., JSON, YAML, CSV).
  • Knowledge of APIs or data integration for telemetry pipelines.
