Job Purpose
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive professional to coordinate and deliver cross-journal initiatives that strengthen editor and board member recruitment, engagement, and retention across our Gold Open Access journal portfolio. This role plays a key part in maintaining vibrant, active editorial boards by supporting recruitment campaigns, producing newsletters, distributing surveys, compiling engagement reports, and managing the annual refresh of board membership. Working closely with the Editorial Journal Manager team and other departments, the role ensures editorial boards remain engaged, effective, and aligned with the portfolio’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate the production and timely distribution of quarterly editorial board newsletters across the OA portfolio, ensuring consistency and engagement.
Deliver annual surveys to Editors and Board Members, gathering actionable insights on journal development, peer review, and manuscript handling.
Compile, analyze, and present annual editorial board activity reports to support data-driven decisions around board member retention, re-engagement, or removal.
Manage the annual board refresh process, overseeing the removal of inactive members in collaboration with Journal Managers.
Support recruitment campaigns by coordinating targeted outreach to potential board members identified by Journal Managers and the Associate Managing Editor.
Partner with cross-functional teams to streamline editorial board management processes and ensure alignment with broader business objectives.
Monitor and provide feedback on editorial management tools and workflows, recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and impact.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, confident in working collaboratively with colleagues and engaging external stakeholders.
Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
Ability to prioritize effectively, adapt to changing demands, and work as part of a team to achieve shared goals.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and openness to learning new systems and tools.
