R&D Documentation Engineer

Job Summary:

Are you passionate about technology, innovation, and creating impact beyond the lab bench? We are looking for an R&D Documentation Engineer who can bridge the gap between cutting-edge engineering design and intellectual property protection. In this role, you will work closely with our inventors and product engineers to capture novel concepts, prepare high-quality technical documents for patent filings, and contribute to building a strong IP portfolio that defines the future of our products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with engineers and R&D teams to understand and document novel technical concepts in clear and structured form.
• Prepare detailed technical documents for patent applications, including invention disclosures, working principles, and system descriptions.
• Create professional block diagrams, workflow charts, and system architecture illustrations for patent and design documentation.
• Analyse designs to extract and articulate unique patentable features with clarity and precision.
• Support prior art searches and coordinate with patent attorneys by providing accurate technical explanations.
• Maintain version-controlled design and R&D documentation libraries to support future filings and product development records.
• Assist in preparing compliance and certification documentation as required for product approvals.
• Uphold strict confidentiality of proprietary information and unpublished inventions.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline (Master’s preferred).
• Strong technical writing and analytical skills with a structured and logical approach.
• Ability to quickly grasp complex engineering designs and explain them clearly in writing.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and diagramming tools (Draw.io, Visio, Lucidchart).
• Excellent communication skills to interact confidently with engineers, leadership, and patent attorneys.
• High attention to detail, with consistency in language, formatting, and technical accuracy.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• Master’s degree with research or design project experience.
• Exposure to patent drafting, patent analysis, or intellectual property processes.
• Familiarity with certification documentation (e.g. CE, UL, IEC standards).
• Experience working with patent attorneys, R&D strategy teams, or innovation mana
