QA/QC Engineer – Process Equipment

Department:

Job Purpose:

To ensure that all process equipment (e.g., pressure vessels, heat exchangers, columns, tanks, reactors, etc.) are fabricated, assembled, inspected, and tested in accordance with the applicable codes, client specifications, and project quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and Approve Quality Documents:

  • Review ITPs (Inspection and Test Plans), QCPs (Quality Control Plans), WPS/PQR (Welding Procedure Specification / Procedure Qualification Record).
  • Ensure compliance with ASME, API, and other relevant codes and standards.
  • Material Verification & Traceability:

  • Verify all incoming materials (plates, forgings, nozzles, internals) for compliance with MTCs (Material Test Certificates) and specifications.
  • Ensure proper marking and traceability of materials throughout fabrication.
  • Inspection & Testing Activities:

  • Perform visual inspections (fit-up, welds, painting, etc.) at various stages of fabrication.
  • Witness or verify NDT (RT, UT, PT, MT) activities are conducted as per approved procedures.
  • Monitor hydrostatic, pneumatic, and leak testing of process equipment.
  • Vendor Surveillance / Third-Party Coordination:

  • Liaise with third-party inspection agencies (TPIs) and client representatives.
  • Attend inspections at vendor or fabrication sites.
  • Ensure compliance with FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) requirements.
  • Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain inspection reports, welding logs, NDT records, and final dossiers.
  • Prepare and submit quality documentation, including MDR (Manufacturing Data Record) or QA/QC dossiers.
  • Non-Conformance Management:

  • Identify and report NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports).
  • Coordinate with fabrication and engineering teams for corrective and preventive actions.
  • Compliance & Continuous Improvement:

  • Ensure adherence to project QA/QC procedures and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Participate in internal audits and support root cause analysis.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience:

    5+ years in QA/QC for process equipment fabrication, ideally in oil & gas or industrial sectors.
  • Certifications:

  • CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2 / AWS CWI
  • ASNT Level II in RT, UT, MT, PT (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of ASME Section VIII Div. 1 & 2, API 650/620, PED, etc.
  • Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of welding, NDT, and pressure equipment codes.
  • Proficient in reading fabrication drawings and P&IDs.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.

Work Conditions:

  • Willingness to work at fabrication shops, and site locations.
  • May require travel and shift work depending on project schedule.
