Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quantity Surveyor & Billing Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for all quantity surveying and billing activities related to fire fighting projects, ensuring accurate and timely project costing, progress tracking, and financial reporting, specifically focusing on fire protection systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quantity Surveying:

  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for fire protection systems (e.g., sprinklers, fire pumps, fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers).
  • Analyze tender documents and prepare cost estimates for fire protection installations.
  • Develop and maintain accurate material take-offs for fire protection equipment and materials.
  • Conduct site visits to verify quantities and progress of fire protection system installations.
  • Billing & Invoicing:

  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely invoices to clients for fire protection work.
  • Track project progress and prepare payment certificates for fire protection installations.
  • Monitor cash flow and resolve any payment discrepancies related to fire protection scope.
  • Maintain accurate records of all billing and payment transactions for fire protection work.
  • Contract Administration:

  • Review and analyze contracts for terms and conditions related to fire protection work.
  • Manage variations and claims related to fire protection installations.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations for fire protection scope.
  • Cost Control:

  • Monitor project costs for fire protection installations against budget and identify potential cost overruns.
  • Implement cost-saving measures and strategies for fire protection work.
  • Prepare cost reports and variance analysis for fire protection installations.
  • Project Coordination:

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors for fire protection installations.
  • Provide timely and accurate cost information to support project decision-making related to fire protection scope.
  • Other Duties:

  • Assist in the preparation of tender documents for fire protection installations.
  • Maintain updated records of all project documentation related to fire protection work.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and regulations related to fire protection systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in quantity surveying and billing for fire fighting projects with a strong focus on fire protection systems.
  • Strong knowledge of fire fighting system design and installation principles.
  • In-depth understanding of fire protection systems (sprinklers, fire pumps, fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant software (e.g., MS Project, Excel, Primavera).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
