Description
Cost Management: Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and Bills of Quantities (BOQ). Monitor and control project costs, identifying potential cost-saving measures. Contract Administration: Manage contracts, including drafting, reviewing, and administering them. Manage variations, ensuring changes are documented and agreed upon. Procurement: Assist in the procurement of materials and services, negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors. Valuation of Work: Value completed work to ensure accurate payments to contractors and subcontractors. Financial Reporting: Prepare financial reports, including cost forecasts and variance analyses. Risk Management: Identify and assess project risks, developing mitigation strategies. Legal Compliance: Ensure projects adhere to legal and regulatory requirements. Collaboration: Work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders. Client Management: Provide advice and support to clients on cost and contract matters. Data Analysis: Analyze project data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Essential Skills for a Quantity Surveyor: Technical Skills: Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building regulations. Financial Skills: Expertise in cost accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze project data, identify potential issues, and develop solutions. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders. Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate favorable prices and terms with suppliers and subcontractors. Problem-solving Skills: Ability to identify and solve problems related to cost overruns, delays, and other project issues.
