Job Description

Project Manager plans, executes, and monitors agricultural projects, which involves managing budgets, timelines, and resources, coordinating with stakeholders like farmers, government agencies, and NGOs, and ensuring project goals are met. Key duties include developing project plans, managing risk through strategies like crop rotation and pest control, tracking performance, and reporting on project progress and outcomes. This role requires a background in agriculture and strong project management skills to navigate the unique challenges of the sector, such as weather variations and market volatility.

Core responsibilities:

Project planning and execution:

Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.

Oversee daily field activities and ensure alignment with project goals and donor requirements.

Manage project implementation from start to finish, taking responsibility for overall progress and outputs.

Stakeholder management:

Build and maintain partnerships with farmers, government bodies, NGOs, and private companies.

Facilitate collaboration and coordination among cross-functional teams and partners.

Represent the project at events and in communications with various stakeholders.

Budget and resource management:

Manage project budgets, develop spending plans, and conduct regular expenditure reviews.

Ensure timely procurement of necessary goods and services.

Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting:

Establish systems for data collection, monitoring, and evaluation against agreed-upon Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Conduct regular field visits to verify activities and provide updates.

Prepare periodic and comprehensive project reports for management, donors, and other stakeholders.

Risk management and quality assurance:

Identify, assess, and mitigate risks inherent in agriculture, such as pests, weather, and market fluctuations.

Implement corrective actions to address deviations from the project plan.

Ensure the quality of project deliverables and activities.

Capacity building and technical assistance:

Provide technical guidance on farming practices, irrigation, and other relevant areas.

Support farmer institutions like FPOs (Farmer Producer Organizations) in strengthening their capacity in areas like governance, compliance, and market readiness.

Organize and conduct trainings for field staff, partners, and community members
