Job Purpose

2. Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute daily/weekly fabrication schedules.
  • Allocate manpower and supervise fabrication stages (cutting, fit-up, welding, grinding, pickling & passivation).
  • Review fabrication drawings, isometrics, and BOM/MTO.
  • Ensure material identification, handling, and traceability.
  • Prepare daily production reports, weld logs, and spool status updates.
  • Coordinate with stores for materials, consumables, and purging accessories.
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections for fit-up, welding, and dimensions.
  • Ensure compliance with WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications (GTAW/SMAW).
  • Coordinate NDT activities (VT, RT, PT, UT, MT).
  • Maintain ITP, QC documentation, welding records, and spool traceability.
  • Ensure correct procedures for pickling, passivation, and spool cleanliness.
  • Identify defects early and drive corrective/preventive actions.

3. Technical Knowledge Required

  • SS 304/304L properties and welding metallurgy.
  • Pipe schedules, fittings, fabrication standards, tolerance checks.
  • Interpretation of isometrics, GA drawings, P&IDs, weld maps.
  • GTAW/SMAW parameters, purge requirements, spool fit-up methods.

4. Safety Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with fabrication safety standards.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and enforce PPE usage.
  • Monitor safe handling and storage of stainless-steel materials.

5. Coordination & Reporting

  • Coordinate with production, QA/QC, planning, purchase & dispatch teams.
  • Report daily status to the Planning Manager.
  • Support preparation of final QC dossiers and handover documentation.

6. Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of SS spool fabrication and welding.
  • Good inspection and documentation skills.
  • Manpower handling and workflow management.
  • Familiar with ASME, ASTM, and NDT requirements.
  • Good problem-solving and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Office and basic reporting.

7. Qualifications

  • Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical or Production.
  • 3–5 years of experience in SS 304/304L pipe spool fabrication.
  • Experience in both

    production and QA/QC

    is must.

8. Additional Advantages

  • Experience in skid fabrication or modular piping.
  • Knowledge of hydrotesting, pneumatic testing, and passivation testing.
  • Understanding of ASME Section IX.
