Role Overview
Production & Procurement Intern
You will be responsible for:
- Handling raw material & packaging vendors
- Overseeing day-to-day production (with occasional visits to the manufacturing unit)
- Supporting new product launches from a production side
- Maintaining inventory, formulations, and costing records
- Ensuring we never go out of stock on key SKUs
background or strong interest in cosmetic chemistry, R&D, or cosmetic production
Key Responsibilities1. Vendor & Raw Material Management
- Coordinate with existing vendors for
raw materials, fragrances, actives, and packaging
. - Source and evaluate
new vendors
on platforms like IndiaMART
and through direct outreach. - Request quotations, compare pricing, MOQs, and quality before finalising.
- Maintain a
vendor database
with contact details, prices, lead times, and terms. - Follow up with vendors for
timely deliveries
, samples, and documentation (COA, MSDS, etc.).
2. Production Coordination
- Coordinate with
third-party manufacturing units
and labs for ongoing and upcoming batches. - Plan and share
batch schedules
based on inventory requirements and sales forecasts. - Make
occasional visits to nearby manufacturing units
to: - Monitor production
- Check batch quality/consistency
- Ensure correct implementation of formulations and SOPs
- Track production timelines and flag any delays or issues early.
3. Formulations & Documentation
- Maintain an organised
master sheet of all formulations
for each product (version control, changes, and approvals). - Work closely with lab/R&D partners to:
- Discuss new product ideas
- Support in sampling, iteration, and stability feedback
- Keep records of
trial batches, stability results, and feedback
. - Support in creating
basic product technical sheets
and handover notes for marketing and operations.
4. Costing & Pricing Support
- Maintain updated
raw material & packaging cost sheets
. - Work out
per-unit costing
for each product (including RM, packaging, labour, logistics to warehouse, etc.). - Share cost insights to support
pricing, offer planning, and margin discussions
. - Identify opportunities to
optimise costs
without compromising quality (alternative vendors, pack sizes, etc.).
5. Inventory Management & Forecasting
- Maintain
real-time stock reports
of: - Raw materials
- Packaging materials
- Finished goods (by SKU)
- Track consumption patterns and
forecast inventory
based on: - Sales trends
- Seasonality
- Planned campaigns & launches
- Raise
purchase requirements / indents
in advance to avoid stock-outs. - Coordinate with warehouse/operations to keep
physical vs system stock
aligned.
6. New Product Launch Support
- Support the founder/marketing team in
turning product ideas into production-ready SKUs
. - Coordinate samples, changes, and approvals with labs/manufacturers.
- Ensure all
raw materials, packaging, labels, and compliances
are ready before launch. - Maintain timelines and checklists for product launch readiness from the production side.
7. Quality & Compliance Support
- Coordinate basic
quality checks
on incoming raw materials and finished goods (visual checks, leakage, lab reports where applicable). - Help maintain
records required for cosmetic compliance
(batches, labels, RM sources, etc.). - Report any consistent quality issues to the founder and manufacturing partner.
8. Process & System Building
- Create and maintain
simple trackers in Excel/Google Sheets
for: - RM & packaging inventory
- Production plan
- Vendor list & price history
- Formulations & trials
- Suggest process improvements to
reduce chaos and last-minute firefighting

What We’re Looking For
Must-Haves:
- Prior experience (even 6–12 months) in
production, R&D, cosmetic manufacturing, cosmetic lab, or related role
- OR
- Academic background / strong interest in
Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, or cosmetic formulation
.
Skills & Traits:
- Basic understanding of
cosmetic formulations, raw materials, and stability
(oils, butters, surfactants, salts, actives, fragrances, etc.). - Good with
Excel/Google Sheets
– comfortable maintaining trackers and doing basic calculations. - Strong follow-up skills and ability to
coordinate with multiple stakeholders
(vendors, labs, factories, internal team). - Organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a
fast-paced startup environment
. - Ability to travel for
occasional visits to nearby manufacturing/packaging units
.
