Job Description – Production, Maintenance & Quality Engineer/Sr. Engineer (Extrusion Blow Molding & Injection Molding – Plastics Packaging)

Position: Engineer / Sr. Engineer – Production, Maintenance & Quality
Department: Manufacturing (Extrusion Blow Molding & Injection Molding)

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations

• Plan, monitor, and execute daily production activities in Extrusion Blow Molding (EBM) and Injection Molding processes.
• Ensure achievement of production targets (output, cycle time, and efficiency) while minimizing downtime.
• Optimize machine parameters to achieve consistent product quality and cost efficiency.
• Implement process improvements and lean manufacturing practices to reduce scrap and wastage.

Maintenance

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of Extrusion Blow Molding and Injection Molding machines, utilities, and auxiliary equipment.
• Troubleshoot breakdowns, analyze root causes, and ensure timely resolution to minimize production loss.
• Maintain records of machine performance, breakdown history, and spare parts inventory.
• Coordinate with external service providers/vendors for major maintenance or overhauling.

Quality Assurance & Control

• Monitor product quality parameters (dimensions, weight, appearance, strength, leakage, etc.) as per customer specifications.
• Ensure adherence to ISO/QMS/food safety standards applicable in plastic packaging.
• Conduct in-process and final inspections; address customer complaints through root cause analysis and corrective action.
• Work closely with R&D/Design teams to validate new molds, materials, and product trials.

Team & Compliance

• Lead and guide operators, technicians, and shift teams in safe and efficient operations.
• Train team members on SOPs, safety guidelines, and machine handling practices.
• Ensure compliance with EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) norms.
• Support audits, documentation, and regulatory compliance as per industry standards.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong technical knowledge of Extrusion Blow Molding & Injection Molding machines (such as Bekum, ASB, Jagmohan, Jomar, Husky, Ferromatik, etc.).
• Understanding of molds, tooling, hydraulics, pneumatics, and automation systems.
• Hands-on experience in troubleshooting production & quality issues in plastics packaging.
• Knowledge of polymers (HDPE, PP, PET, PVC, etc.) and additives used in rigid packaging.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and TPM practices.
• Good leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Qualification & Experience

• Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Plastic Technology / Production Engineering.
• Experience: 1– 10 years in Production, Maintenance, or Quality in Plastic Packaging (EBM & Injection Molding).
