Job Title: Head – Production Company: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Limited Asset: Beneficiation Plant Function: Mining Business Development Grade Level: M-06 Location: Sagasahi Beneficiation Plant Job Purpose: To lead production operations at the Beneficiation Plant, focusing on optimizing mineral processing through ore characterization, process development, and strategic execution. The role ensures maximum resource utilization and economic viability by collaborating with global R&D teams and aligning with captive quality requirements. Key Responsibilities:Develop short- and long-term business strategies for the beneficiation of mineral resources. Design and implement process flow sheets for ore enrichment and value addition. Conduct feasibility studies to ensure optimal and economically viable utilization of minerals. Manage tailings/rejects and develop sustainable disposal plans. Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and environmental regulations. Provide strategic support for mineral block acquisition decisions. Collaborate with global R&D and research institutions for ore characterization and mineralogy studies. Establish and lead a Center of Excellence for mineral beneficiation. Achieve production targets as per the Annual Business Plan (ABP). Oversee quality control and coordinate closely with maintenance teams for uninterrupted operations. Key Challenges: Analyzing ore characteristics across greenfield and brownfield mines to recommend the most effective beneficiation processes. Designing cost-effective, innovative, and tailor-made process parameters. Maximizing mineral recovery while minimizing rejects as per captive plant specifications. Driving continuous improvements in beneficiation processes. Key Decisions Made by the Role: Conducting and interpreting ore characterization studies. Developing customized process flow sheets. Selecting appropriate technologies and optimizing operational costs. Benchmarking against global production standards and implementing continuous improvements. Recommendations to Superiors: Strategic recommendations for resource optimization and technology deployment for cost-effective beneficiation. Key Interactions: Internal: Global R&D, Mining Operations, Strategy, End-use Plants External: Industry Associations, Scientific & Research Institutions, Technology Partners Skills & Qualifications: Educational Background: B.Tech/M.Tech in Mineral Processing or Metallurgy Preferably with research expertise from reputed institutes Experience: Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in mineral processing, especially in iron ore beneficiation Functional Skills: Proven leadership in mineral characterization studies and development of beneficiation flowsheets Experience in tailing management and operational optimization Behavioral Competencies: Strong interpersonal and team-building capabilities Collaborative leadership and strategic thinking
