A tertiary-care private hospital operating in the healthcare sector, providing comprehensive surgical, reconstructive and cosmetic services to patients across Odisha. Consultant Plastic Surgeon (M.Ch.) — On-site, Ashwini Hospital, Cuttack, Odisha
Role & Responsibilities
- Perform complex reconstructive and aesthetic surgeries, including microsurgical free-flap reconstruction, craniofacial and hand procedures with high clinical standards.
- Manage outpatient clinics: surgical planning, pre-operative assessment, consent, and comprehensive post-operative follow-up and wound care.
- Lead emergency service response for trauma, burns and acute soft-tissue injuries; perform timely operative interventions and coordinate multidisciplinary care.
- Supervise and mentor junior surgeons, residents and nursing teams; maintain operative teaching and ensure adherence to surgical protocols and checklists.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, operative notes, morbidity & mortality reporting and compliance with hospital quality and patient-safety standards.
- Contribute to service development—audit, protocol optimisation, clinical governance initiatives and participation in community outreach or screening camps as required.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- M.Ch. in Plastic Surgery (or equivalent super-specialty qualification) and valid medical registration in India.
- Proven operative experience in microsurgical reconstruction and complex reconstructive procedures in a tertiary-care setting.
- Competence in craniofacial, cleft lip/palate and burn-reconstruction surgery.
- Skillset in aesthetic facial procedures (rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty) and elective cosmetic interventions.
- Experience managing emergency trauma and burn patients with strong peri-operative judgement.
- ACLS certification and familiarity with modern operative equipment including operating microscopes.
Preferred
- Additional training or experience in hand and peripheral nerve microsurgery.
- Experience with medical lasers and cosmetic procedure platforms (e.g., CO2, fractional, Nd:YAG).
- Track record of academic contributions: audits, case series or peer-reviewed publications in plastic/reconstructive surgery.
