We are seeking a Payments Product Owner to drive the vision, design, and delivery of key products and transformation initiatives across the Payments domain. The role demands a blend of business acumen, product strategy, and deep understanding of payment lifecycles , covering initiation, screening, processing, settlement, and reporting.
The ideal candi will serve as the bridge between business stakeholders, technology teams, and operations , ensuring alignment of product features with customer needs and regulatory or modernization goals (e.g., ISO 2, SWIFT gpi, RTP, FedNow, UPI, A Instant ). The Product Owner will define and manage product roadmaps, oversee backlog prioritization, and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver enhancements across both BAU and transformation programs.
Key responsibilities
- Product Strategy and Roadmap
- Define product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Payments transformation initiatives (e.g., ISO 2 enablement, RTP/FedNow modernization, cross-border and real-time payments).
- Translate strategic goals into actionable product epics and features with measurable outcomes.
- Prioritize backlogs based on business value, client needs, and compliance or regulatory timelines.
- Partner with Payments Operations & Transformation Leads to shape and evolve modernization programs and digital payment capabilities.
2. Product Delivery and Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams - technology, operations, compliance, and business users - to deliver enhancements and new capabilities across the payments lifecycle.
- Manage sprint planning, backlog grooming, and acceptance criteria to ensure product increments meet defined objectives.
- Partner with technology and QA teams for end-to-end product testing, user acceptance, and release management.
- Act as the voice of the customer, ensuring usability, operational efficiency, and risk controls are embedded in all product design isions.
3. Payments Domain Expertise and Governance
- Apply in-depth understanding of payment messaging standards (SWIFT, A, FedNow, RTP, UPI, ACH) and emerging modernization initiatives (ISO 2, gpi).
- Ensure alignment of product design with sanctions, AML, and screening workflows , as well as with reconciliation and intraday liquidity management needs.
- Work closely with Treasury, Core Banking, and Risk teams to enable straight-through processing (STP) and data-driven reconciliation.
- itor ket and regulatory trends (PSD2, CBPR+, UETR) and recommend up to the product roadmap.
4. Operational Excellence and Change Enablement
- Identify process improvement opportunities and collaborate with automation or analytics teams to drive digitization and efficiency.
- Support training, documentation, and rollout of new features and workflows.
- Champion agile practices, design thinking, and continuous improvement across delivery pods.
Skills Required:
- 10+ years of experience in Payments Operations, Product Management, or Transformation , preferably in banks, payment hubs, or fintechs .
- Strong understanding of payment ecosystems including SWIFT, ACH, RTP, A, FedNow, ISO 2, and related regulatory standards.
- Proven ability to translate business and regulatory requirements into product features, epics, and user stories aligned with modernization goals.
- Experience managing the end-to-end lifecycle of payment products from concept and MVP design to scaled delivery and ket adoption.
- Hands-on experience in product backlog management , sprint delivery, and tools such as JIRA, Confluence , and prioritization frameworks (MoSCoW, WSJF).
- Familiarity with payment platforms (e.g., Murex Payments, Finastra Fusion, VolPay, FIS, Temenos) and understanding of API-based integrations, cloud migration, and microservices architectures in modern payment hubs.
- Strong data orientation , with ability to interpret transaction metrics and operational data to inform product isions, efficiency gains, and control enhancements.
- Exposure to sanctions screening, AML controls, reconciliation , and regulatory workflows integrated across Treasury and Core Banking systems.
- Experience engaging in client workshops, product demos, and readiness assessments , with strong presentation and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership capabilities to drive cross-functional alignment across business, risk, compliance, and technology teams.
