Operations Manager

Chess Gaja, founded by GrandMaster Priyadharshan Kannappan, is a global online chess academy with students from 30+ countries. We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive individual to join our team as an Operations Manager. This is a remote role, but we might give slight preference for candidates in and around Madurai.

Chess Gaja is an upcoming startup in the education space with about 7 team members including the 2 founders.

We are ideally looking for candidates with 3+ years of relevant experience in operational management level, preferably in education or coaching environments.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, improving efficiency, coordinating teams, managing budgets, and ensuring smooth execution of events and training sessions at Chess Gaja.

What we are looking for:

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to work independently
• Experience in managing daily operations in educational or coaching settings
• Ability to coordinate between different teams including management, administrative staff, and external partners
• Knowledgeable in latest AI technology tools like ChatGPT, Gemini
• Ability to handle LMS, CRM and other tools
• Excellent communication skills and leadership qualities
• Problem-solving attitude and attention to detail
• Ability to implement operational policies and maintain compliance
• Assigning tasks to team members and ensuring work completion
• Knowledge of basic financial reporting and vendor management

You Have:

• Bachelor's degree (required) in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field
• 3+ years of managerial experience in operations or office management role
• Proficiency in AI tools
• Experience in team supervision and cross-functional coordination
• Good English communication skills, verbal and written
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Previous experience working in an education or coaching company (preferred but not mandatory)

Role Details

Work Location - Remote

Working Hours - 6 days a week

Work Timings - 9 AM to 6 PM (Monday to Saturday; Sunday off)

Mandatory Language Fluency - English

Salary Range - ₹25,000 to ₹30,000 (includes retention bonus)
