Role : Onboarding Specialist


About Us

Deccan AI is a model training and eval startup headquartered in the Bay Area. We are founded by IIT Bombay, IIM Ahmedabad and ex-Google alumni, and work with some of the top AI frontier labs in the world, e.g. Google Deepmind, Snowflake, and many more. We are backed by Prosus Ventures, and our India delivery office is in Hyderabad. Most of our roles are on-site i.e. Bay Area / Hyderabad.

About the Role

Onboarding Specialist

Key Responsibilities

Pre-boarding & Documentation

  • Manage all pre-boarding activities including document collection, BGV initiation, and offer confirmation steps.
  • Coordinate with HR, IT, and Admin teams to ensure all systems, tools, and assets are ready before the new hire’s start date.
  • Maintain accurate and updated onboarding records.


Day-One Experience

  • Conduct engaging virtual or in-person new hire orientation sessions.
  • Ensure smooth completion of joining formalities, ID creation, and access setup.
  • Introduce new hires to their teams, working norms, and company values.


Training & Integration

  • Schedule role-specific training sessions and introductions with key stakeholders.
  • Track onboarding milestones during the first 30–90 days.
  • Support managers in creating structured onboarding plans for their new team members.


Employee Experience

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all new-hire queries.
  • Resolve issues promptly and escalate when necessary.
  • Collect onboarding feedback and implement improvements to enhance the experience.


Process & Compliance

  • Maintain consistent onboarding SOPs and checklists.
  • Identify gaps in onboarding processes and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and legal HR requirements.


Skills & Qualifications

  • 1–4 years of experience in HR Operations, Onboarding, or People Experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent coordination, follow-through, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in HRIS tools, documentation.
