Job Description

Role Objective:-

The NPD Engineer will be responsible for managing and executing new product development projects from concept to production. The role involves designing, testing, improving, and launching new products while ensuring quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.


Salary:-

45 to 50K CTC

Key Responsibilities:-

1. Product Design & Development

Develop 3D models and 2D drawings of new plastic components using NX CAD (mandatory) / SolidWorks.

Convert design concepts into manufacturable product designs suitable for injection molding.

Modify and improve existing products based on feedback and functionality needs.

Ensure designs meet aesthetic, functional, and quality standards.


2. Mould Feasibility & DFM

Conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) analysis for new components.

Coordinate with Mold Design Engineers for compatibility and feasibility checks.

Suggest design modifications to improve mold life, ease of manufacturing, and reduce defects.


3. Project Management

Plan and execute NPD projects within defined timelines.

Coordinate with Tool Room, QC, Production, and R&D teams during sample trials.

Track project progress from concept to final approval.


4. Sample Development & Trials

Support molding trials, sample testing, and first-off validations.

Analyze defects and collaborate with QC and Production to implement corrections.

Maintain proper documentation of samples, revisions, and approvals.


5. Documentation & Reporting

Prepare BOM, technical drawings, and related engineering documents.

Maintain version control for all design files and revisions.

Share regular project status updates with management.


6. Vendor & Cross-functional Coordination

Coordinate with external vendors for prototype development and mold manufacturing.

Work closely with Marketing, Production, and other teams to drive product enhancements.


Required Skills & Competencies

  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, or related engineering field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in New Product Development or R&D.
  • Strong command of NX CAD (mandatory) proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD is an added advantage.
  • Good understanding of injection molding processes and plastic material behavior.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and GD&T standards.
  • Knowledge of mold design concepts, molding defects, and corrective actions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and visualization abilities.
  • Effective project management and time-management skills.


Additional Requirements

  • Experience in plastic or toy manufacturing industry preferred.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple NPD projects simultaneously.
