The Role

The NonStop Database Administrator is responsible for end-to-end management, performance, and availability of NonStop SQL/MP and SQL/MX databases. The role includes installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, performance optimization, GoldenGate replication support, and coordination with application teams for efficient query design and issue resolution.

Responsibilities

Core Database Administration

·      Perform installation, maintenance, planning, monitoring, reorgs, connectivity, refresh, and performance tuning of NonStop databases.

·      Manage SQL/MP and SQL/MX databases including query analysis, tuning, and SQL programming support.

·      Review and resolve locking conflicts, latch contention, and rollback requirements.

Performance & Optimization

·      Conduct physical DB support, stress testing, and application-level performance tuning.

·      Assist application teams with efficient SQL/MP query design.

GoldenGate Replication

Operations & Support

·      Handle incidents, change requests, problem tickets, and perform RCA documentation.

·      Coordinate production maintenance windows and provide on-call support as required.

·      Support creation and maintenance of DBA procedure documents.

·      Enhance database security and ensure compliance.

Must - Have Qualifications:

·      Strong experience in NonStop SQL/MP & SQL/MX database administration.

·      Expertise in DB installation, maintenance, performance tuning, monitoring & reorgs.

·      Hands-on experience with Oracle GoldenGate replication on NonStop.

·      Proficiency in incident/change/problem management and RCA processes.

·      Deep understanding of query tuning, locking conflicts & database internals.

Preferred Qualifications:

·      Experience with SQL/MX programming.

·      Exposure to database security hardening.

·      Knowledge of stress testing and performance benchmarking.

·      Strong coordination skills for production maintenance windows.
