Role Description Network & Security Engineer – Core Competencies Network Infrastructure & Operations Routing & Switching: Extensive hands-on experience with enterprise-grade routers and switches, ensuring optimal network performance. Network Health Monitoring: Conduct regular health checks on routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and QoS configurations to maintain system integrity. Performance & Reliability: Monitor system performance, ensuring high availability and reliability across all network components. Resource Utilization & Capacity Planning: Analyze system resource usage trends to inform capacity planning and scalability strategies. Incident Management & Vendor Coordination Change Management & Incident Response: Adhere to established change management and Major Incident Management (MIM) policies to ensure smooth implementation of network changes and swift incident resolution. Vendor Liaison: Coordinate with vendors during planned maintenance and Priority 1 (P1) incidents to expedite issue resolution. Network Security & Threat Management Security Protocols & Devices: Proficient in configuring and managing security devices, including firewalls, antivirus systems, cryptographic tools, and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems. Threat Identification & Mitigation: Over two years of experience in identifying security threats and implementing appropriate protection measures. Security Assessments: Review system changes for potential security implications and recommend necessary improvements. Protocols, Tools & Technologies Networking Protocols: In-depth knowledge of IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, and QoS protocols. Monitoring & Diagnostic Tools: Skilled in using ticketing systems, network monitoring tools, diagnostics, and analytics platforms to maintain network health. Security & Networking Hardware: Extensive experience with devices from Palo Alto, Fortinet, Juniper, F5, and Cloudflare. Wireless & Enterprise Networking Wireless Deployment: Expertise in deploying and managing wireless networks supporting over 500 users per site, ensuring seamless connectivity and performance. WAN Connectivity: Strong understanding of Wide Area Network (WAN) connectivity, transport types, and protocols to support enterprise operations.
