Job Description

To lead and manage the quality function for Cooler Motor manufacturing, ensuring that all motors meet defined quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. The role involves establishing and maintaining robust quality systems, driving continuous improvement, and reducing rejections and warranty claims.

Key Responsibilities:1. Quality System Management

  • Develop, implement, and maintain ISO 9001-compliant quality systems and documentation.
  • Establish incoming, in-process, and final inspection procedures for raw materials, winding assemblies, and finished motors.
  • Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of measuring instruments and testing equipment.

2. Product & Process Quality

  • Define and monitor Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) parameters for cooler motors (e.g., winding resistance, insulation resistance, temperature rise, noise, and vibration).
  • Approve and audit process control plans, SOPs, and inspection checklists.
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for customer complaints, rework, or in-house rejections.
  • Oversee endurance, noise, and performance testing of motors as per IS 996 or customer specifications.

3. Supplier Quality

  • Evaluate and qualify suppliers for key components (stamping, shaft, bearings, enamel wire, etc.).
  • Conduct supplier audits and track supplier PPM and quality performance.
  • Work with suppliers for continuous improvement and defect reduction.

4. Customer Quality

  • Handle customer audits, sample approvals, and PPAP documentation.
  • Analyze field failure data and warranty returns to identify recurring issues and implement solutions.
  • Coordinate with R&D for design feedback based on quality observations.

5. Team & Reporting

  • Lead and mentor a team of quality engineers, inspectors, and testing technicians.
  • Generate and analyze quality KPIs (rejection %, rework %, COPQ, etc.) for management review.
  • Conduct training and awareness programs on quality standards, problem-solving, and inspection techniques.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • In-house rejection rate (%)
  • Customer complaint rate / warranty claims
  • Supplier PPM
  • Audit compliance score
  • On-time closure of CAPA

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
  • Experience: 5–10 years in Quality Assurance in motor or rotating equipment manufacturing (preferably cooler or appliance motors)
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of motor testing (B/L, no-load, locked rotor, efficiency, and temperature rise tests)
  • Knowledge of IS 996, IS 4029, and related BIS/IEC standards
  • Proficiency in quality tools: 7 QC tools, FMEA, SPC, MSA, 8D, and problem-solving methods (Why-Why, Fishbone, Pareto)
  • Hands-on experience in calibration, test setups, and gauges

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹20,075.19 - ₹25,000.00 per month
