Job Description

Job Role: The Merchandiser acts as a link between the buyer and the production team. They are responsible for handling buyer communication, product development, costing, order execution, and ensuring timely delivery of quality garments as per buyer requirements. Key Responsibilities: 1. Buyer Communication: Act as the main point of contact between the buyer and the company. Understand buyer requirements and specifications clearly. Provide updates to buyers regarding order status, sampling, and production progress. 2. Product Development: Coordinate with the design and sampling teams for new product development. Prepare and send samples as per buyer specifications and timelines. Ensure accurate interpretation of buyer’s tech packs and comments. 3. Costing and Pricing: Prepare garment costing sheets and negotiate prices with buyers. Coordinate with sourcing and purchase teams to control material costs. 4. Order Execution: Manage and monitor order processing from sample approval to shipment. Create and follow up on production schedules to ensure on-time delivery. Coordinate with the production, quality, and logistics departments. 5. Fabric and Trims Sourcing: Identify and source appropriate fabrics, accessories, and trims. Ensure material availability as per production timelines. Liaise with suppliers and vendors for timely procurement. 6. Quality Assurance: Ensure that all products meet buyer quality standards and specifications. Work closely with the quality control team for inspections and approvals. 7. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain order files, approvals, costing details, and shipment documents. Prepare regular reports on order status, shipment schedules, and production updates. 8. Follow-ups and Coordination: Maintain continuous follow-ups with production units, suppliers, and buyers. Resolve any production or delivery issues promptly. 9. Market & Trend Awareness: Stay updated with current fashion trends, fabric innovations, and market demands. Suggest new ideas or improvements based on buyer preferences and market trends. Required Skills: Strong communication and negotiation skills Knowledge of fabrics, trims, and garment construction Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems Attention to detail and ability to multitask Time management and problem-solving skills
