Mechanical Engineer

Role Summary:

The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring all machines run smoothly with maximum uptime. The role includes preventive maintenance, breakdown analysis, troubleshooting, and supporting continuous improvement activities to enhance machine performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

A. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

Ensure completion of preventive maintenance as per schedule.

Maintain all machine history cards, checklists, and maintenance records.

Monitor MTTR & MTBF targets and take actions for improvement.

B. Breakdown & Root Cause Analysis

Attend machine breakdowns and ensure quick restoration to minimize downtime.

Conduct breakdown analysis and implement corrective & preventive actions (CAPA).

Prepare action plans, perform Kaizens, and track sustenance.

C. Machine Condition Monitoring

Perform daily machine audits and housekeeping checks.

Conduct weekly inspections for compressors, DG sets, CO2 gas bank and utilities.

Ensure proper functioning of all mechanical systems and safety devices.

D. Continuous Improvement & Compliance

Provide improvement suggestions (minimum 1 per month/year based on company policy).

Support Quality Management System (QMS) activities.

Ensure all maintenance processes comply with safety and quality standards.

E. Documentation & Reporting

Maintain logbooks, checklists, work orders, and maintenance reports.

Update PMS records and provide timely reports to management.

Support audits and maintain required documentation.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

Machine uptime – 100% target adherence.

MTTR – Within defined limits.

MTBF – Improvement month-on-month.

Preventive Maintenance completion – 100%.

Breakdown recurrence – Reduced through CAPA.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and utilities.

Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of TPM, Kaizen, 5S, QMS.

Ability to read machine drawings and manuals.

Good communication and coordination skills.

Qualifications:

Diploma / BE in Mechanical Engineering.

1–5+ years of experience in industrial machine maintenance (any manufacturing industry).

Authority

Allocate tasks to technicians/trainees.

Approve machine commissioning and acceptance checks.

Recommend spare parts, tools, and maintenance improvements.

Coordination With

Production, Quality, Operators, Maintenance Team, and Management.
