Job Description

Role Overview and Responsibilities: Dhruva Space is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead and support the mechanical integration of satellite systems and subsystems. You will play a critical role in ensuring the structural and thermal integrity of spacecraft through all phases of Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT), from production to launch readiness. This position demands strong hands-on engineering expertise and a deep understanding of mechanical systems used in high-reliability environments such as space, defence, or advanced technology sectors. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Lead mechanical integration activities for satellites and payloads in cleanroom and lab environments. Develop integration plans, test campaigns, and procedures in alignment with mission requirements. Coordinate interfaces between mechanical subsystems and ground support equipment (MGSE/EGSE). Support structural and thermal design reviews, working closely with design and systems engineers. Perform tolerance stack-ups, load path analysis, and thermal deformation assessments. Identify integration risks early and propose mitigation strategies based on lessons learned. Oversee mechanical AIT activities at both subsystem and system level. Define test setups and supervise execution of environmental tests (vibration, thermal vacuum, acoustic). Ensure strict adherence to configuration control and cleanliness standards during integration. Lead preparations for satellite transportation and integration with the launch vehicle. Participate in launch campaigns, interface meetings with launch providers, and support anomaly resolution. Generate and maintain detailed technical documentation, including integration procedures, drawings, test reports, and verification matrices. Ensure quality assurance compliance and maintain traceability of all engineering activities. Candidate Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field. Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in satellite or aerospace mechanical system integration. In-depth knowledge of spacecraft mechanical systems, materials, thermal design, and AIT processes. Proficiency in structural and thermal analysis tools such as ANSYS, NASTRAN, or equivalent. Understanding of cleanroom protocols, environmental testing standards, and space hardware handling.
