Mechanical Design Engineer

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative Head of Mechanical Design Engineering to lead our mechanical design team. This role will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of mechanical design across new and existing products, ensuring excellence in design, innovation, and manufacturability. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, leadership skills, and experience managing cross-functional teams in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of mechanical design engineers in the development of new products and improvement of existing ones.
• Drive innovation in mechanical systems design, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
• Oversee the full mechanical design lifecycle: concept development, 3D modeling, simulations, prototyping, testing, and documentation.
• Ensure all designs meet performance, safety, reliability, cost, and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, software, manufacturing, and quality engineering.
• Manage design resources, set priorities, allocate tasks, and track progress to meet project timelines and budgets.
• Establish and enforce design standards, best practices, and use of design tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, FEA, PDM systems).
• Evaluate and implement new technologies, tools, and materials to enhance product performance and reduce cost/time to market.
• Support product launches and troubleshoot design-related issues during production and in the field.
• Provide technical direction during design reviews and decision-making processes.
• Recruit, train, and retain top engineering talent.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or management role.
• Proven expertise in product development, CAD modeling, FEA, GD&T, and DFM/DFA.
• Experience in [industry-specific] product development (e.g., industrial equipment, automotive systems, consumer electronics).
• Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working in a structured development process (e.g., ISO, AS9100, APQP).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional Engineering (PE) License or equivalent (if applicable).
• Experience with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards such as ASME, ASTM, ISO, etc.
• Knowledge of ERP systems and product lifecycle management (PLM) tools.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
