Trainer Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing training programs to ensure the team is proficient in all aspects of the healthcare revenue cycle. Their role is a blend of subject matter expertise in RCM and strong leadership and training skills.
Job Description
Manager/ Assistant Manager, Training
An RCM Trainer Manager's duties are comprehensive, covering strategy, content, delivery, and team management. Key responsibilities include:
  • Training Strategy and Development: They own the training charter, which involves creating and executing training roadmaps. This includes designing standardized, competency-based training modules for new hires, existing staff, and leadership. They conduct training needs analysis (TNA) to identify skill gaps and create plans to address them.
  • Content Creation and Management: They develop and maintain training materials, such as manuals, job aids, and e-learning content. They ensure all training documentation is up-to-date with the latest industry regulations, such as HIPAA, and changes in payer policies.
  • Training Delivery and Evaluation: They facilitate live and virtual training sessions on a wide range of RCM topics, including medical coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS), claims processing, denials management, and accounts receivable (AR) follow-up. They monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training through assessments, surveys, and performance metrics, providing feedback to both trainees and leadership.
  • Team Leadership and Mentorship: They lead and mentor a team of RCM trainers and instructional designers, conducting "Train-the-Trainer" (TTT) programs to ensure consistency and quality across the team. They also participate in the recruitment process, including creating and administering domain-specific tests for new hires.
  • Process Improvement and Compliance: They work with other departments to identify process bottlenecks and implement training solutions to improve efficiency and reduce claim denials. They are responsible for ensuring all training content and processes are compliant with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.

Hard Skills

    Extensive RCM Domain Knowledge: A deep, end-to-end understanding of the revenue cycle, including patient registration, medical coding, billing, claims submission, payment posting, denials management, and accounts receivable.
    Proficiency in RCM Systems: Hands-on experience with various RCM software, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and practice management systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
