Job Summary
Experienced and hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Executive responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and efficiency of food processing machinery. The role includes managing preventive and breakdown maintenance, statutory compliance, root cause analysis, and alignment with ISO and EHS standards to ensure uninterrupted and compliant plant operations. Also should have capability to handle opex and capex projects.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Maintenance Operations
- Lead the mechanical maintenance of process equipment such as mixers, conveyors, slicers, blenders, conveyors, Pumps, Hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and utilities like compressors, pumps, HVAC, NH3 plant, N2 plant, etc.,
- Ensure uptime through structured preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Supervise breakdown troubleshooting and ensure minimal downtime.
- Maintain asset history and conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for repeated failures.
- Ensuring the availability of the critical spares for the machines.
Statutory & Safety Compliance
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations (Factories Act, Boilers Act, Pressure Vessel Rules, etc.).
- Coordinate third-party inspections (boilers, pressure vessels, lifting tools).
- Prepare and maintain documentation for audits and government inspections.
ISO and System Management
- Ensure adherence to ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) practices.
- Conduct and support internal and external audits for ISO, FSSAI, and safety norms.
- Implement and monitor SOPs, permit-to-work systems, and risk assessments.
Improvement Initiatives
- Drive cost-saving initiatives (spare parts management, energy savings, and utility optimization).
- Implement 5S, TPM, Kaizen, and Root Cause Analysis tools.
- Evaluate vendors and support in Capex planning for mechanical systems.
Team and Coordination
- Coordinate with production, quality, and EHS teams for machine-related issues.
- Guide and train technicians in troubleshooting and safety practices.
- Manage AMC and third-party service support.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Expertise in food-grade machine maintenance
- Strong knowledge of statutory compliance and industrial safety norms
- Familiar with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 22000, and OHSAS 18001
- Knowledge in utility systems (steam, compressed air, water, refrigeration)
- Skilled in using CMMS / SAP PM / maintenance software
- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills
Education & Certifications
- Diploma / B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
- Certifications in ISO 45001, OHSAS, or Safety preferred
- Working knowledge of ETP/STP, food hygiene, and GMP is an added advantage
- Completion of Energy Manager / Energy auditor will be highly preferable.
