Job Description – Automation & Maintenance Engineer (Robotic Assembly) Position Title: Automation & Maintenance Engineer Department: Assembly Line Maintenance – Automation Reports To: Maintenance Manager / Engineering Head Major Roles & Responsibilities1. Preventive Maintenance Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on robotic assembly equipment. Ensure optimum machine performance and reliability. Work to extend equipment lifespan and reduce unplanned downtime. 2. Troubleshooting and Repairs Diagnose and resolve issues in robotic systems quickly. Conduct PLC troubleshooting and address communication faults between different PLCs. Support in emergency breakdowns to minimize line stoppage. 3. Vision System Maintenance Maintain and troubleshoot vision systems used for in-line inspections and quality checks. Ensure the accuracy and reliability of vision-based quality control systems. 4. Drive Systems Support Troubleshoot and maintain Siemens Drives, SEW Drives, and similar motor control systems. Address drive faults to ensure smooth machine operation. 5. Sensing Devices Maintenance Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot various sensors (proximity, photoelectric, pressure, etc.). Ensure all sensing devices function correctly for process accuracy and safety. 6. Electrical Hoists Maintenance Carry out maintenance and repair of electrical hoists used for material handling. Ensure hoists are safe, reliable, and compliant with operational standards. 7. Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities. Log preventive and corrective maintenance, spare parts usage, and failure analysis. Support audits and continuous improvement initiatives through documentation. Required Qualifications & Skills Education: Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a relevant field. Experience: 3–8 years in industrial automation, robotic assembly, or plant maintenance. Strong experience in PLC troubleshooting (Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc.). Good understanding of vision systems, sensors, actuators, and drives (Siemens/SEW). Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, PLC logic, and mechanical schematics. Knowledge of safety standards in industrial automation. Behavioral & Soft Skills Proactive and solution-oriented. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong teamwork and communication abilities. Ability to work under pressure and during urgent breakdowns. Willing to work in shifts if required. Work Environment Factory floor environment with exposure to robotic arms, PLC systems, drives, and high-voltage equipment. Physical presence required for hands-on troubleshooting and repair tasks.
