Job Description for a Logistics Manager in the Metal Industry:

Reports To: General Manager / Operations Head j

​Job Summary:

The Logistics Manager will be responsible for overseeing, planning, and coordinating the transportation, warehousing, and distribution of raw materials and finished metal products. The role ensures efficient supply chain operations, cost optimization, compliance with industry regulations, and timely delivery to customers and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Logistics & Supply Chain Management
• Plan, manage, and coordinate inbound and outbound logistics for raw materials (ore, coal, scrap, alloys) and finished metal products.
• Optimize freight, shipping routes, and modes of transportation to reduce cost and improve efficiency.
• Ensure proper documentation for domestic and international shipments.
• Inventory & Warehouse Management
• Supervise storage, handling, and movement of materials in warehouses and yards.
• Implement effective inventory management systems to reduce wastage, losses, and excess stock.
• Coordinate with production and procurement teams for timely material availability.
• Vendor & Transport Management
• Manage relationships with transporters, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and customs agents.
• Negotiate contracts and rates with logistics service providers.
• Monitor vendor performance against agreed KPIs.
• Compliance & Safety
• Ensure compliance with government regulations, customs, excise, and export-import norms.
• Maintain safety standards in logistics operations, particularly for handling heavy loads and hazardous materials.
• Implement EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) guidelines for transportation and storage.
• Team Leadership
• Lead and train a team of logistics executives, warehouse staff, and transport coordinators.
• Set performance goals and monitor KPIs for logistics operations.
• Drive process improvements through technology adoption (ERP, SAP, WMS, TMS).
• Reporting & Analysis
• Prepare logistics budgets and control costs effectively.
• Track and report on logistics performance, delivery timelines, and cost savings.
• Analyze logistics data to identify bottlenecks

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹55,000.00 per month
