Legal Manager - Collections | CARS24

Role & responsibilities

• Lead, plan, and manage all legal collection activities in alignment with company policies and regulatory requirements.

• Identify process gaps, risks, and weaknesses in legal collections and recommend corrective actions.

• Stay updated on all laws and regulatory changes impacting debt collections (RBI policies, Code of Conduct, internal and local guidelines).

• Monitor compliance in all collection touchpoints (telecalling, field operations, agent documentation, etc.)

• Develop frameworks for tracking and reporting compliance metrics within legal collections.

• Review and enhance policies, SOPs, and workflows for legal collections to align with regulatory and organizational standards.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (telecalling, field, and operations) to ensure strategies are compliant and effective.
• Conduct regular training sessions for collections staff on compliance, regulatory guidelines, and best practices.

• Serve as the go-to point of contact for compliance-related guidance.

• Prepare detailed reports, dashboards, and compliance assessments for senior management.
• Clearly communicate risks, findings, and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
• Track and report progress on audit findings, corrective actions, and compliance initiatives.

Preferred candidate profile

• 8+ years of experience in Legal / Legal Collections / Compliance / Risk / Internal Audit, preferably in financial services or NBFCs
  
• Hands-on exposure to regulators, external audits, and legal tech tools (Credgenics, ProVakil, etc.)
  
• Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail and discipline in execution
  
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to influence decisions
  
• Knowledge of data-privacy laws and their implications on collection processes
