Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Windows Patch Management Catalog Researcher and creator to oversee the creation, maintenance, and deployment of software update catalogs across enterprise Windows environments. This role focuses on building and managing custom patch catalogs for effective patch lifecycle management, ensuring system security, compliance, and stability.

Key Responsibilities:

Create and maintain patch management catalogs for Windows systems using tools like SCCM, WSUS, Microsoft Intune, or third-party solutions (e.g., Ivanti, ManageEngine).Develop custom catalogs for third-party applications and drivers not included in standard Microsoft catalogs.Ensure catalogs are up-to-date, digitally signed, and tested in non-production environments before rollout.Collaborate with security and vulnerability management teams to identify high-priority patches.Automate patch catalog ingestion and metadata synchronization.Manage and monitor the publishing of software update catalogs using SCUP (System Center Updates Publisher) or equivalent tools.Develop PowerShell scripts or automation routines to streamline catalog creation and validation.Generate compliance reports and provide catalog documentation and changelogs.Troubleshoot issues related to update classification, supersedence, applicability rules, and digital signing.Stay current with Microsoft and third-party vendor update release cycles.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).8+ years of experience with Windows patch management and catalog creation.Hands-on experience with SCUP, WSUS, SCCM (MECM), Intune, or third-party patching tools.Strong understanding of Microsoft update metadata, classifications, and supersedence logic.Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation.Experience with digital code signing, certificates, and publishing updates securely.Familiarity with patch compliance standards and security frameworks.Strong documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Certifications:

Microsoft Certified: Windows Server / Endpoint AdministratorCompTIA Security+ or similarITIL Foundation (for change and release management processes)
