Lead - Data Governance & ETL

Position Summary

The Lead - Data Governance & ETL is responsible for defining and implementing the organization’s enterprise-wide data governance strategy, ensuring data quality, security, compliance, and consistency across business functions. The role also oversees the design, development, and operations of robust ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes that enable efficient data integration, management, and availability for analytics and decision-making.

This role reports to the Head of Data Warehouse, and works closely with senior stakeholders, business units, and technology teams to build a scalable and trusted data ecosystem that supports the company’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Define, implement, and enforce enterprise-wide data governance framework, policies, and standards.
• Establish Data Governance Council and ensure alignment with business and compliance needs.
• Drive initiatives around data quality, metadata management, master data management, lineage, cataloging, and stewardship.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (DPDP, SEBI, etc.).
• Foster a data-driven culture by promoting data literacy and ownership across business units.

ETL & Data Management

• Lead the strategy, design, and optimization of ETL/ELT processes to integrate data from multiple sources into enterprise data platforms (Data Lake, Data Warehouse, Cloud, etc.).
• Oversee architecture and develop high-performance, scalable, & reliable data pipelines.
• Ensure proper data security, governance, lineage, and traceability within ETL processes.
• Collaborate with BI/Analytics teams to ensure data availability and accessibility.
• Introduce automation and monitoring frameworks to optimize ETL efficiency.

Leadership & Strategy

• Build and lead a high-performing Data Governance and ETL teams.
• Partner with senior leadership to define long-term data strategy and roadmap.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to align data governance initiatives with organizational goals.
• Drive innovation in data management, leveraging modern tools (Snowflake, Databricks, Informatica, Talend, dbt, etc.).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science / Information Technology, Data Management, or related fields.
• 13-20 years of experience in Data Management/Engineering, with at least 5 years in Data Governance leadership roles.
• Strong expertise in ETL/ELT tools (Informatica, Talend, SSIS etc.) and data integration frameworks.
• Experience with modern data platforms (On-premise: Oracle, Teradata, Hadoop; Cloud: AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.).
• Familiarity with metadata management, master data management, and data catalog tools (Collibra, Alation, Informatica Axon, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and data privacy standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
