Role Purpose
The Lead Architect will play a pivotal role in shaping the overall architecture of the healthcare data platform, applying extensive knowledge of design principles and practices to create a scalable, secure, and efficient enterprise-scale system. This role will lead the conceptualization, design, and implementation of the platform's architecture, ensuring it aligns with business
requirements and industry best practices. Responsibilities include leading design reviews, driving technical decisions, and mentoring engineers on architectural considerations. You will be responsible:
- Architecture Design and Development:
○ Develop high-level and low-level design components, ensuring scalability,
supportability, and extensibility of software products.○ Drive software architecture that can be adaptable to support healthcare software products in the cloud across several clinical domains.○ Define the technology roadmap, focusing on data aspects such as data ingestion pipelines (batch, streaming), data storage solutions (SQL, NoSQL, Data Lakes),data transformation and processing frameworks, data quality and governance tools, data cataloging and metadata management, and data visualization and reporting tools.
○ Lead other architects and senior engineers to design, plan, deliver, and operate thedata platform.
○ Provide leadership in project execution by defining incremental designimprovements that can continuously evolve the platform, mitigate project risks, andcontinuously deliver additional stakeholder value.○ Scope and define proof-of-concepts, including identifying technology options and assessments.○ Provide technical leadership to the product teams to help their products withthe data platform.
○ Collaborate with various groups like Product Management, UX, Customer Success,
Sales, Compliance, Legal, and more to understand and meet customer needs.○ Communicate with stakeholders including customers to explain solutions andtechnology, obtain customer insights, and translate them into technical deliverables.
○ Ensure high quality software that is highly scalable, available, reliable, supportable, and extensible and integrates with other Roche products and platforms.
Your profile
- Educational Background: BS in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline. Master’s degree preferred
- Experience:Proven expertise in leading and mentoring principal software engineers and other junior software engineers
○ 15+ years of hands-on coding experience (or equivalent).
○ Proven expertise in leading and mentoring principal software engineers and other junior software engineers.○ Deep understanding of data warehousing, ETL processes, and data lakeconcepts○ Experience in real-time data streaming and processing frameworks (e.g., Kafka, Spark)○ Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data security best practices○ Experience in Data Analytics, Machine Learning, and generative AI.○ Proficiency in Cloud distribution/computing (AWS), API Design, Data Modeling,Capacity Planning, and Engineering best practices such as TDD, CI/CD.○ Extensive experience in architecting and developing large-scale designs.○ Solid experience in Agile methodologies for both delivery and operations.○ Skilled in SQS, No-SQL technologies like PostgreSQL, Redis, DynamoDB,MongoDB.○ Experience in Client-Service architecture, design patterns, and buildingcloud/enterprise-grade solutions.Nice to Have:
- Master in CS, Engineering (preferred)
- Experience in Healthcare tech, standards, and workflows (e.g. HL7, FHIR)
- Experience with QMS for FDA-regulated products

You will be based in Sant Cugat/ Barcelona.
