Job Description

Job Title: Computer Lab Technician Location: Saraswati Group of Colleges, Mohali. Department: Engineering Reporting To: Dean of Department Qualifications  Bachelor's Degree in Computer Applications (BCA) or  Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field Desired Skills  Proficiency in installation and troubleshooting of computer hardware and peripherals  Installation and configuration of operating systems (Windows/Linux) and software applications  Basic to intermediate knowledge of networking (LAN setup, IP configuration, switches, routers)  Familiarity with antivirus and security software installations  Ability to diagnose and resolve system performance issues  Understanding of backup systems and data protection practices  Knowledge of lab safety protocols  Good communication and organizational skills  Ability to document technical issues and maintain records Key Responsibilities  Ensure the proper functioning of all computers, printers, projectors, and networking equipment in the lab  Install, configure, and update operating systems and software as required by faculty or curriculum needs  Maintain an up-to-date inventory of hardware, software, and accessories  Maintain proper stock registers for all IT assets and lab equipment  Monitor and report any unauthorized use or technical malfunctions  Coordinate with vendors and support teams for repair and maintenance  Ensure network connectivity and assist in basic networking tasks  Provide technical support to faculty and students during lab sessions  Assist in the preparation and setup for practical exams and workshops  Keep the lab environment clean, organized, and conducive to learning  Ensure proper data backup and security measures are in place  Prepare technical reports and update maintenance logs regularly Preferred Certifications (Not Compulsory)  CompTIA A+ / Network+  Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)  Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
