Job Description

Position: Jr IT Administrator Department: IT Infrastructure & Support Reporting To: IT Manager

Role Summary

The Jr IT Administrator will be responsible for providing day-to-day IT support to employees, ensuring smooth IT operations, managing IT inventory, assisting in IT infrastructure tasks, and supporting ongoing IT projects. The role demands quick troubleshooting, adherence to IT policies, and effective coordination with vendors and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

1. User Support & Issue Resolution

○ Provide first-level IT support for laptops, desktops, email, Wi-Fi, VPN, and basic applications.

○ Resolve IT issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure employee productivity.

○ Reduce repetitive tickets by identifying root causes and implementing preventive measures.

2. IT Asset & Inventory Management

○ Maintain up-to-date IT inventory records, ensuring proper tagging and disposal of scrap/unused items.

○ Coordinate sale/reallocation of unused hardware to reduce waste.

○ Support procurement activities for hardware, software, licenses, and renewals.

3. Onboarding & Offboarding

○ Install and configure laptops with required applications for new employees.

○ Create email IDs and user accounts; block/remove access during exit formalities.

4. Network & Security Support

○ Assist in configuring firewall rules, DNS entries, and monitoring bandwidth utilization.

○ Keep firewall and networking devices updated with the latest firmware.

○ Manage Wi-Fi access and troubleshoot connectivity issues as per user needs.

5. Server & Data Center Support

○ Perform basic server administration, monitoring server uptime, and handling OS-related issues.

○ Support in renewing hardware warranties and coordinate with vendors for support.

○ Visit the Data Center when required for troubleshooting or hardware reboot.

6. Email & Collaboration Tools

○ Manage Google Workspace (GWS) accounts, including email creation, deletion, spam handling, and domain additions.

○ Provide support for email tracking issues and coordinate with users for unused accounts cleanup.

7. Endpoint Security

○ Manage Seqrite Console, ensuring all clients are updated with the latest definitions.

○ Monitor missing updates and resolve security compliance gaps.

8. Domain & VPN Management

○ Assist in ordering and renewing domains with coordination from senior IT staff.

○ Provide VPN access to users based on HOD approvals and troubleshoot VPN issues region-wise.

Key Skills & Competencies

● Strong troubleshooting skills for Windows, Linux (basic), and networking issues.

● Hands-on knowledge of IT inventory management and procurement processes.

● Basic understanding of firewall, DNS, and Wi-Fi configuration.

● Familiarity with Google Workspace Admin Console and endpoint security tools.

● Good communication and problem-solving skills.

● Ability to work independently under guidance and escalate issues when needed.

Qualifications & Experience

● Bachelor’s degree/diploma in IT, Computer Science, or related field.

● 0–2 years of experience in IT support / system administration.

● Relevant certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, or similar) preferred but not mandatory.
