Job Description

The IT Applications Specialist is a critical role responsible for the support, maintenance, and optimization of specialized Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and other software systems within the hospital environment. This position acts as the primary point of contact for technical support, blending help desk responsibilities with analytical and strategic system analysis duties. The specialist ensures that EMR applications operate efficiently, align with clinical needs, enhance patient safety, and maintain strict compliance with healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting and Technical Support:
  • Act as the first point of contact, responding to user inquiries and providing expert technical support and guidance for EMR and other applications, serving as an expert in this domain.
  • Independently troubleshoot and resolve system issues to ensure optimal performance and minimal disruption to clinical and administrative workflows.
  • System Analysis and Optimization:
  • Analyze, implement, and optimize IT software systems to improve clinical workflows, enhance operational efficiency, and align technology with patient care needs.
  • Work closely with clinical and administrative departments to identify and implement workflow improvements.
  • System Implementation and Maintenance:
  • Lead or assist in the planning, testing, installation, configuration, and deployment of new EMR applications, modules, and upgrades.
  • Manage and configure hospital applications to meet operational and clinical needs, ensuring alignment with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Data Management and Interpretation:
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and interpret healthcare data from HIM systems to inform business operations and patient care decisions.
  • Prepare and present findings to management and relevant stakeholders.
  • User Training and Documentation:
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training for hospital staff on the effective use of HIM systems and data collection processes.
  • Create and maintain user guides and other documentation for new features, upgrades, and standard operating procedures.
  • Compliance and Security:
  • Ensure that all applications comply with hospital standards, healthcare regulations (such as HIPAA), and security protocols to protect patient health information.
  • Collaboration and Vendor Coordination:
  • Partner with IT teams, clinical departments, and administrative staff to ensure applications meet stakeholder needs.
  • Collaborate with external vendors for system upgrades, patches, and feature implementation; escalate unresolved technical issues as necessary.
  • Independent Initiative:
  • Operate independently in identifying and resolving application issues and serving as the primary expert for all HIM application support responsibilities.
  • On-Call Support:
  • Participate in after-hours or weekend support rotations as needed to maintain 24/7 application availability.

Skills and Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or an appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • At least three years of experience in supporting, programming, or maintaining specialized business or healthcare IT applications is required.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and related Health Information Management (HIM) software systems such as Paragon, Sunrise, OnBase, One Content, and 3M Coding and Reimbursement System.
  • Strong understanding of data management and analytics principles within a healthcare context.

  • Analytical & Problem-Solving: Strong ability to reason through complex support requests, identify application issues, and provide multiple viable solutions.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Organizational: Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and effectively prioritize a dynamic workload.
  • Interpersonal: Good negotiation and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse hospital departments and external vendors.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹19,873.07 - ₹53,674.25 per month
