Position Overview
The Interior Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing interior design or interior construction projects from concept through completion. This role ensures design intent is maintained while delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Interior Project Manager serves as the primary liaison between clients, designers, contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Coordination
Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets.
Define scope, deliverables, and timelines with internal stakeholders and clients.
Coordinate design development, materials selection, procurement, and installation phases.
Manage documentation, including drawings, specifications, and change orders.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
Serve as primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
Present design concepts, project updates, and budget reports.
Facilitate meetings, site walkthroughs, and approvals.
Construction & Site Management
Oversee site progress, ensuring compliance with design intent and quality standards.
Coordinate with contractors, trades, architects, and engineers.
Conduct regular site inspections, resolve on-site issues, and monitor safety practices.
Verify measurements, installation accuracy, and final punch lists.
Budget & Vendor Management
Prepare cost estimates, track expenses, and manage project budgets.
Source and coordinate with vendors for materials, furnishings, and services.
Negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules.
Review invoices, procurement orders, and financial documentation.
Quality Assurance
Ensure design standards, client expectations, building codes, and company guidelines are met.
Maintain detailed records, project logs, and quality checklists.
Oversee final installation, finishing, and project handover.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field.
3–7+ years of relevant experience in interior design project management (residential, commercial, hospitality, or retail).
Experience working with contractors, design teams, and high-end clients.
Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in design and project management software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, MS Project, Monday.com, etc.).
Strong understanding of materials, finishes, furniture, and construction methods.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong budgeting and cost-control capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, NCIDQ, LEED AP).
Experience with procurement and FF&E management.
Knowledge of local building codes and permitting.
Work Environment
Combination of office, design studio, and field/site visits.
Ability to lift material samples and conduct site inspections as needed.
