Key Responsibilities: - Import and Export Operations: - Coordinate shipments of raw materials and finished jewelry between suppliers, manufacturing units, and international customers. - Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and company policies during import/export processes. - Manage shipping documentation like bills of lading, import/export licenses, customs forms, and certificates of origin. - Supervise customs clearance processes to ensure shipments meet customs requirements. - Vendor and Supplier Management: - Cultivate strong relationships with suppliers and freight forwarders for timely and cost-effective deliveries. - Evaluate and negotiate contracts with suppliers, freight companies, and international logistics partners. - Inventory Management: - Work with the supply chain team to maintain accurate inventory records of raw materials and finished jewelry. - Manage import and export documentation to minimize disruptions in the manufacturing workflow. - Regulatory Compliance: - Ensure adherence to local and international trade laws, customs regulations, and tariffs related to precious metals and gemstones. - Stay informed about the latest trade and tariff regulations, especially in the jewelry industry. - Cost Control and Optimization: - Analyze shipping costs, tariffs, and logistics expenses to optimize import and export expenses. - Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising shipment quality or timeliness. - Risk Management: - Proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with import/export processes and unforeseen issues. - Collaborate with insurance companies to secure appropriate coverage for shipments, including precious metals and gemstones. - Reporting and Documentation: - Generate regular reports on import/export performance, including financial summaries, delivery times, and challenges. - Maintain updated records of all import/export transactions, shipments, and associated documents for audit purposes. Qualifications: - Education: - Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, International Business, Logistics, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred. - Experience: - Minimum of 10 years of experience in import/export management, ideally in the manufacturing sector. - Profound knowledge of international trade laws, tariffs, customs clearance, and logistics. - Demonstrated expertise in managing complex import/export transactions, shipping logistics, and vendor relationships. - Skills: - Strong negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal. - Proficiency in logistics management software and tools such as ERP systems and customs management software. - Ability to handle time-sensitive tasks and adapt to changing regulations and market dynamics.
