Job Description

Hiring: ILD / NLD / Subsea Cabling NOC Engineer – L1

We are looking for a highly motivated NOC Engineer – L1 to support global backbone and subsea network operations in a 24/7 environment. The role involves real-time monitoring, incident handling, stakeholder coordination, and ensuring high availability of critical network infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor NMS for Critical, Major, Service degradation alarms on SLTE (Submarine Line Terminal Equipment), DWDM, and Routers.
  • Hands-on and troubleshooting experience in handling and resolving the DWDM alarms: LOF, LOS, LOM, ODU-AIS, OTU-BDI
  • Familiar with optical power levels (dBm), Fibre Technology
  • Experience with NMS tools: Ciena One Control, Huawei U2000, Junos Space, Cisco EPNM
  • Familiarity with subsea SLTE/PFE alarms.
  • Engage relevant stakeholder for the incidents that requires support and solution including various partners, consortiums CLS (Cable Landing Station) to verify power/cooling or perform a physical fibre loopback.
  • Conduct health checks and verify network stability during/after incidents.
  • Log all incidents and service requests in the ticketing system.
  • Respond to alerts (performance, connectivity, outages) and take initial corrective actions.
  • Send initial "Incident Acknowledgment" emails to customers (IPLC/Transit clients).
  • Create Handover Report for every shift and update the next shift engineer about the last update (internal and customer status update)
  • Escalate issues to Level 2/Level 3 engineers following SOPs.
  • Maintain excellent verbal and written communication with internal teams and customers during incidents.
  • Perform scheduled infrastructure checks and generate daily/weekly NOC reports.
  • Update network documentation, logs, and inventory records.
  • Support change management notification schedules with the customers and partners with timely updates and monitor the post-change status and stability.


Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of global backbone networks and subsea cable systems
  • Understanding of MPLS, Ethernet technologies, and CLS architecture
  • Skills equivalent to CCNP (Routing, Switching, Service Provider)
  • Experience with ticketing systems and NMS tools (ManageEngine, SolarWinds)
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios, or Zabbix
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of TCP/IP, routing & switching, DWDM, and fiber technologies


Professional Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent phone and email etiquette
  • Ability to strictly follow SOPs
  • Strong documentation and incident-handling skills
  • Comfortable working in a 24/7 shift environment


Education:

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Networking, or equivalent experience
