As an IB PYP/MYP Physical Education Teacher, you play a crucial role in nurturing the overall development of students within the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework. Your responsibilities include promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, and a healthy lifestyle while incorporating the principles of the IB learner profile. You are expected to create engaging and inclusive programs that cater to students aged 3 to 16, focusing on their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth through sports and physical activities. Key Responsibilities: - Implement and follow the IB PYP/MYP curriculum for physical education. - Design and deliver lesson plans tailored to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students. - Develop and evaluate physical education programs that emphasize physical fitness, sportsmanship, and healthy living. - Coach and facilitate various sports activities, fostering team dynamics and sportsmanship among students. - Provide opportunities for students to engage in both individual and team sports. - Promote health and wellness concepts within the school environment. - Keep detailed records of student progress and assess the effectiveness of the program. - Utilize assessment tools to gauge student performance and growth in physical education. - Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages learning and participation. - Collaborate with fellow faculty members to integrate physical education with other subjects. - Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and activities. - Encourage community participation in school sports and physical education initiatives. - Engage in continuous professional development to stay abreast of best practices in physical education and IB curriculum changes. - Represent the school in inter-school sports competitions and events. - Organize and lead after-school sports clubs and activities. Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field. - Specialization in athletics or field games such as football, hockey, cricket, volleyball, handball, basketball, etc. - Teaching certification or license endorsed for Physical Education. - Preferably experience teaching in an IB PYP or MYP environment. - Minimum 2-3 years of teaching experience in primary and secondary education. - Strong understanding of child development and pedagogical methods in physical education. - Ability to create engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans. - Knowledge of various sports and physical fitness training techniques. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Proficiency in managing a classroom effectively. - Experience in collaborating with colleagues and engaging parents. - Current CPR and first aid certifications. - Familiarity with assessment tools and techniques for evaluating student performance. - Passion for fitness and promoting an active lifestyle among students. - Cultural awareness and sensitivity in diverse educational settings. - Willingness to actively participate in school community events. - Commitment to ongoing professional growth and learning in education.
