Job Description

We are seeking a highly responsible, hands-on Hotel Manager to oversee end-to-end hotel operations at our property in Shimla. The ideal candidate must be capable of managing all departments independently, ensuring smooth daily operations, excellent guest experience, cost control, staff management, and revenue growth. This role requires flexibility, leadership, and the ability to perform both managerial and operational tasks.

Key Responsibilities1. Overall Hotel Operations

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the hotel
  • Ensure smooth functioning of Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B, Maintenance, and Security
  • Actively participate in daily operations when required (hands-on role)
  • Maintain high service standards and guest satisfaction

2. Guest Relations & Service Excellence

  • Personally handle guest complaints, feedback, and special requests
  • Ensure positive guest reviews on OTA platforms (Booking.com, MakeMyTrip, Airbnb, Google, etc.)
  • Maintain high standards of hospitality, cleanliness, and comfort
  • Coordinate special events, group bookings, and VIP guests

3. Staff Management & HR

  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise hotel staff
  • Ensure discipline, grooming standards, and professional behavior
  • Prepare duty rosters and manage attendance
  • Handle staff issues, performance reviews, and motivation
  • Manage staff accommodation and welfare (if applicable)

4. Front Office & Reservations

  • Oversee reservations, check-in/check-out processes
  • Manage OTA portals, pricing, availability, and inventory
  • Coordinate with travel agents and corporate clients
  • Ensure accurate billing and cash handling

5. Housekeeping & Maintenance

  • Supervise housekeeping standards for rooms and public areas
  • Ensure linen, laundry, and inventory control
  • Coordinate routine maintenance and emergency repairs
  • Monitor water, electricity, heating, and generator systems (important for hill stations)

6. Food & Beverage (If Applicable)

  • Oversee kitchen and restaurant operations
  • Ensure food quality, hygiene, and cost control
  • Manage suppliers and stock
  • Assist in menu planning and pricing

7. Financial Management

  • Prepare and control budgets
  • Monitor daily revenue, expenses, and profitability
  • Handle petty cash, vendor payments, and basic accounts
  • Reduce wastage and control operational costs

8. Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations
  • Maintain licenses (FSSAI, Fire Safety, Tourism, Pollution, etc.)
  • Ensure guest and staff safety at all times
  • Handle inspections and audits

9. Sales & Marketing Support

  • Assist in marketing strategies to improve occupancy
  • Coordinate seasonal packages (summer, winter, snowfall season)
  • Work with digital marketing agencies if required
  • Build relationships with local vendors and tour operators

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management, Hospitality, Tourism, or related field

(Diploma holders with strong experience may also be considered)

  • Basic knowledge of accounting and hotel software
  • Knowledge of hospitality laws and regulations in India

Required Skills & CompetenciesTechnical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of hotel operations (Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B)
  • Experience with hotel management software / PMS
  • OTA and channel manager handling
  • Budgeting and cost control
  • Inventory and vendor management

Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Excellent communication skills (English & Hindi required)
  • Problem-solving and decision-making ability
  • Guest-centric mindset
  • Ability to work under pressure and long hours
  • Flexible and adaptable (especially during peak tourist seasons)

Physical & Practical Requirements

  • Willingness to perform hands-on tasks when required
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and peak seasons
  • Comfortable working in hill station conditions and seasonal fluctuations

Work Experience Required

  • 3–7 years of experience in hotel operations
  • Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
  • Experience in boutique hotels, resorts, or hill station properties preferred
  • Proven experience managing small to mid-sized hotels independently

Preferred Candidate Profile

  • Experience working in Shimla or similar hill stations
  • Multi-skilled, self-driven, and highly accountable
  • Long-term commitment preferred
  • Local candidates or those familiar with Himachal Pradesh tourism are an advantage

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹250,000.00 - ₹400,000.00 per year
