Job Description

To ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance and stewardship across all phases of operations within the solar panel and battery manufacturing plant. This role will lead the implementation of proactive risk mitigation strategies, promote a culture of safety, and ensure sustainable and legally compliant environmental practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the HSE vision, policies, and systems aligned with corporate objectives and government regulations.
  • Guide the organization towards a safety-first culture with clear KPIs for safety performance.
  • Influence cross-functional teams to incorporate HSE into business planning and operational execution.
  • Ensure compliance with Indian and international HSE laws, including the Factories Act, Environment Protection Act, and Battery Waste Management Rules.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities such as MoEFCC, MPCB, and DISH for approvals, inspections, and timely reporting.
  • Oversee the implementation of safety protocols tailored to solar cell manufacturing (e.g., chemical handling) and battery production (e.g., lithium-ion hazards).
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring using advanced risk assessment tools (e.g., HAZOP, FMEA) to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Design and execute safety drills, certification programs, and employee awareness workshops.
  • Mentor and guide site HSE managers, fostering a deep-rooted safety culture across all plant levels.
  • Ensure that behavioral safety initiatives and toolbox talks become part of the daily operational rhythm.
  • Drive initiatives on waste management, air and water emissions control, energy efficiency, and resource conservation.
  • Lead implementation and compliance with ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) frameworks.
  • Promote circular economy practices for battery lifecycle management and solar module disposal.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health, or a related field.
  • NEBOSH/IOSH certification or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant HSE experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within a large-scale manufacturing or energy environment.
  • Proven understanding of safety and environmental risk factors specific to solar and battery production processes.
