Head Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head – Engineering to lead the Engineering, Maintenance, Utilities, and Projects functions at our Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) formulation plant. The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and proven experience in maintaining plant reliability, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of all plant equipment and utilities.

Ensure maximum equipment uptime, reliability, and compliance with cGMP, USFDA, MHRA, and WHO standards.

Manage operation and maintenance of critical utilities — HVAC, boilers, chillers, compressors, purified water, and WFI systems.

Plan and execute CAPEX, plant expansion, and modification projects within budget and timelines.

Drive safety, energy conservation, and environmental compliance initiatives.

Maintain engineering documentation, SOPs, and calibration/qualification records.

Support audits and ensure timely closure of engineering-related observations.

Lead and mentor the engineering team, and manage CAPEX/OPEX budgets effectively.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

Equipment uptime and maintenance compliance

Energy and utility cost efficiency

Reduction in breakdowns (MTBF improvement)

Timely completion of preventive maintenance and CAPEX projects

Compliance in internal and external audits

Qualifications & Experience:

Education: B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering (M.E./M.Tech. preferred)

Experience: 12–20 years in pharmaceutical formulation (OSD) plants, with at least 5 years in a senior managerial/head role

Technical Expertise:

Strong knowledge of cGMP, HVAC, water systems, and utility validation

Hands-on experience with CMMS and regulatory audits (USFDA, MHRA, WHO, EU GMP)
