Job Title: Head of Distribution

Location:

Job Summary:

The Head of Distribution will be responsible for developing and executing the overall distribution strategy for the TV network's content across all platforms. This includes traditional linear distribution (cable, satellite, DTH), as well as digital distribution (IPTV or any new opportunity). The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the media landscape, strong negotiation skills, and a proven track record of growing audience reach and revenue through effective distribution partnerships. The person should have worked in a leadership position within distribution team at an existing TV Network

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive distribution strategies to maximize the network's reach, audience engagement, and revenue across all relevant platforms.
  • Identify new and emerging distribution opportunities, including domestic and international expansion.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and technological advancements in content distribution.
  • Have a great relationship network with the key MSO and DTH leadership team and the content acquisition team.
  • Should have good people and negotiation skills.
  • Partnership Management & Negotiation:

  • Lead negotiations and manage relationships with key distribution partners, including cable operators, satellite providers, DTH platforms, telcos, and digital platforms
  • Secure favorable carriage agreements, retransmission consent, and licensing deals.
  • Explore and establish new partnerships to expand the network's footprint and monetization opportunities.
  • Manage ongoing relationships, ensuring compliance with agreements and identifying opportunities for growth.
  • Market Analysis & Reporting:

  • Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify distribution trends, competitive activities, and audience behavior.
  • Provide regular reports on distribution performance, including audience reach, subscriber growth, and budgets
  • Use data-driven insights to inform distribution strategy and decision-making.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Potentially build, lead, and mentor a team of distribution professionals (if applicable).
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including Programming, Marketing, Sales, Legal, and Finance teams to align distribution efforts with overall business objectives.
  • Represent the network at industry events, conferences, and trade shows.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Media Studies, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 12-15 years of progressive experience in distribution and business development.
  • Proven track record of success in negotiating and managing complex distribution agreements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed strategic decisions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong negotiation and deal-making abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving industry.
  • Experience in the HSM  market is highly desirable.
