Role Summary:

Head Barista / Beverage Manager


Key Responsibilities:


Operational & Team Leadership

  • Lead, train, and mentor a team of baristas across shifts and outlets (if multi-location).
  • Oversee daily beverage operations, ensuring consistency, speed, and excellence in service.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and bar organization in line with brand SOPs.
  • Create and manage shift schedules, training calendars, and team performance plans.


Menu Development & Beverage Innovation

  • Design and develop seasonal beverage menus – coffee, non-coffee, and other in-house beverages.
  • Partner with chefs for beverage pairings and experiential offerings (e.g., tasting menus, flights).
  • Experiment with new brewing techniques, ingredients, and customer preferences to keep offerings fresh and competitive.
  • Conduct regular sensory evaluations and recipe calibrations.


Training & Quality Control

  • Develop and implement barista training modules (espresso basics, latte art, customer interaction, etc.).
  • Conduct routine quality checks – taste, temperature, presentation, and overall beverage standards.
  • Organize regular tasting sessions and upskilling workshops.


Vendor & Inventory Management

  • Liaise with roasters, suppliers, and vendors to source high-quality beans, teas, and beverage components.
  • Oversee procurement, inventory, and cost control of all bar-related ingredients and tools.
  • Monitor equipment upkeep and coordinate with service vendors for maintenance and repairs.


Customer Experience & Brand Building

  • Engage with guests to create personalized beverage experiences and build regular clientele.
  • Support marketing efforts by contributing beverage ideas for campaigns, social content, and launches.
  • Represent the brand at coffee events, tastings, or industry collaborations when needed.


Skills & Experience:

  • 4–6 years of experience in specialty coffee / beverage service, with 1–2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of espresso machines, grinders, brew methods (V60, Chemex, AeroPress, etc.).
  • Proven ability in recipe development, flavor profiling, and sensory evaluation.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and people management skills.
  • Experience in inventory control and vendor negotiations.
  • A flair for customer engagement and hospitality.
  • Barista certification (e.g., SCA or equivalent) is a plus.
