Job Accountabilities
- Participate in network design and architecture planning, applying best practices and industry standards to ensure scalability, security, and high availability.
- Implement new network infrastructure or modify existing configurations to meet business requirements, including routing, switching, SD-WAN, and wireless technologies.
- Perform routine network maintenance tasks independently, including firmware upgrades, configuration backups, and proactive monitoring.
Monitor network health and performance, identifying and resolving connectivity issues, latency problems, and bandwidth bottlenecks independently
- Manage network security tasks, including firewall rule management, access control lists (ACLs), VPN configurations, and security monitoring, escalating critical threats when necessary.
- Execute network migration projects independently for standard scenarios, including data center migrations, cloud connectivity (AWS/Azure), and technology refresh initiatives.
- Support network integration with other systems and applications, implementing standard connections for load balancers, NAC solutions, and cloud environments (AWS VPC, Azure VNets, ExpressRoute, Transit Gateway).
- Analyze network performance metrics to identify capacity constraints, traffic patterns, and optimization opportunities.
- Implement performance improvement strategies, such as QoS policies, traffic engineering, route optimization, and configuration tuning to enhance network efficiency.
- Contribute to developing and maintaining disaster recovery and business continuity plans for network infrastructure.
- Execute network failover testing procedures and document results to ensure high availability and resilience.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of network diagrams, configurations, procedures, and configuration standards.
- Create and update network documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles independently.
- Diagnose and resolve complex network issues independently, collaborating with vendors, security teams, and application teams when necessary.
Stay current with networking technologies, trends, and best practices, contributing insights and recommendations to the team.
Qualifications, Experience And Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of hands-on experience in enterprise-level network engineering, including 2+ years in a senior or group-level role.
- Deep knowledge of routing & switching (Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet), network security, SD-WAN, and wireless technologies.
- Hands-on experience with firewalls (FortiGate, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA), load balancers, and NAC solutions.
- Cloud networking knowledge (Azure Networking, AWS VPC/Subnetting, NSGs, VPN/ExpressRoute, Transit Gateway).
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred Certifications
- CCNP/CCIE, Fortinet NSE 7/8, or JNCIP/JNCIE
- Cloud certifications (e.g., Azure Network Engineer Associate, AWS Advanced Networking)
- ITIL Foundation certification (preferred for ITSM-aligned environments)
