Job Description

The Group Director will provide strategic vision, institutional leadership, and effective change management as the institute transforms into a full-fledged university. The role centres on driving transformation initiatives, ensuring academic excellence, complying with regulatory requirements, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.


 Key Responsibilities


 Strategic Leadership and Transformation

·        Lead the development and implementation of the strategic roadmap for university transformation, ensuring all objectives align with institutional ambition and external standards.

·        Act as a catalyst for change, actively identifying and driving transformation projects to improve processes, systems, academic outcomes, and institutional capabilities.

·        Engage in horizon scanning and external benchmarking to position the institution as a leader in the higher education sector.


 Academic Governance and Excellence

·        Oversee curriculum development, teaching standards, and assessment practices to meet emerging university-level quality benchmarks and accreditation standards.

·        Foster pedagogic and technological innovation across all programs, including the expansion of postgraduate, research, and lifelong learning offerings.


 Stakeholder Management and Communication

·        Develop strong relationships with academic and administrative staff, students, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.

·        Effectively communicate the vision and progress of transformation initiatives to internal and external audiences.


 Project and Portfolio Management

·        Manage all university transformation projects from inception to closure, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to stakeholder satisfaction.

·        Embed best practices in project governance, risk management, and benefits realization.


 Operational Excellence

·        Ensure operational structures (HR, finance, facilities, IT, compliance) are upgraded and fit for a university environment.

·        Promote quality assurance across services and programs, ensuring compliance with all statutory bodies and regulations.


 Talent and Capability Development

·        Lead, support, and coach staff through the transformation, identifying and fostering emerging talent.

·        Develop training, professional development, and succession planning strategies for faculty and staff.


 Essential Qualifications and Skills


·        Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in Education, Leadership, or related field.

·        15+ years of progressive experience in academic leadership, ideally with experience in institutional transformation or similar change management roles.

·        Deep understanding of higher education policy, accreditation, and quality assurance.

·        Proven ability to lead and deliver organizational change and large-scale projects.

·        Exceptional communication, analytical, and strategic planning skills.
