Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Management

  • Plan, organize, and direct manufacturing operations to achieve daily, monthly, and annual production targets.
  • Monitor production schedules, output, efficiency, and equipment utilization.
  • Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and production standards.
  • Implement lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.

2. Strategic & Operational Planning

  • Develop and implement production strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Prepare annual budgets, manpower planning, and resource allocation.
  • Analyze production data and generate performance reports for management.

3. Quality & Process Control

  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance department to ensure that products meet customer and regulatory standards.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for process or quality issues.
  • Promote a culture of zero defects and continuous improvement.

4. Maintenance & Equipment Management

  • Coordinate with maintenance for preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure minimal downtime and optimal utilization of machinery and tools.

5. Manpower & Team Leadership

  • Lead, train, and motivate production teams, supervisors, and engineers.
  • Promote safety, teamwork, accountability, and performance excellence.
  • Implement training programs to upgrade technical skills of shop floor personnel.

6. Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)

  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards, statutory regulations, and environmental guidelines.
  • Drive initiatives for safe working practices and hazard prevention.

7. Coordination & Communication

  • Work closely with Planning, Procurement, Quality, Maintenance, and R&D to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Support new product development and process validation activities

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering (Masters preferred).
  • Experience: 15-25 years in manufacturing operations, with at least 5-7 years in a senior production management role.
  • Industry background engineering, automotive, heavy machinery, precision components or process manufacturing preferred.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and people management.
  • Expertise in production planning and control.
  • Proficiency in Lean, TPM, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methods.
  • Good knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and decision-making ability.

Performance Metrics:

  • Production output vs. plan.
  • OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
  • Cost reduction and productivity improvement.
  • Quality (Rejection rate / Customer complaints).
  • On-time delivery performance.
  • Safety and compliance metrics.
