Job Description

Role Overview:

The General Manager (GM) – Civil Construction will be responsible for leading, managing, and delivering all civil construction projects of the company within time, cost, quality, and safety standards. The GM will oversee project planning, execution, resource management, and client relationship management while ensuring compliance with statutory and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities:1. Strategic Planning & Leadership

  • Develop and implement strategies for successful project execution.
  • Lead a team of Project Managers, Engineers, and Site Staff to deliver multiple projects simultaneously..

2. Project Management

  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of civil construction projects – from planning to handover.
  • Review and approve project schedules, budgets, and risk assessments.

3. Operations & Execution

  • Ensure timely mobilization of resources (labour, material, machinery).
  • Coordinate with procurement for timely supply of materials.

4. Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and government authorities.
  • Conduct regular client meetings, presentations, and progress reviews.

5. Team Management & Development

  • Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing project management team.
  • Define KPIs and conduct performance reviews.

6. Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations (labour laws, EHS, quality standards, etc.).
  • Implement and monitor company policies, procedures, and reporting systems.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Expertise in project planning (MS Project/Primavera preferred).
  • Excellent knowledge of civil engineering standards, methods, and execution practices.
  • Strong negotiation and client handling abilities.
  • Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost control, and profitability.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s in Construction Management preferred) From reputed Institute.
  • 15+ years of experience in civil construction, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
  • Proven track record of handling large-scale infrastructure / industrial / commercial projects.
  • Sound knowledge of contracts (FIDIC/CPWD or equivalent).
