Job Summary

The Front Desk and Accessioning Executive is responsible for managing client interactions, handling sample accessioning, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring smooth coordination between the reception and laboratory teams. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with laboratory operations and sample handling protocols.

Key Responsibilities

Front Desk Operations
  • Greet and assist clients, patients, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Handle inquiries (in-person, phone, or email) regarding lab services, tests, and reports.
  • Schedule appointments and manage the daily workflow of sample collection and dispatch.
  • Coordinate with logistics for sample pickup and delivery as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with data protection policies.
Sample Accessioning
  • Receive and verify incoming biological samples (blood, saliva, tissue, etc.) with corresponding requisition forms.
  • Assign unique accession numbers and accurately log all samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Cross-check patient/test details for completeness, accuracy, and proper labeling.
  • Sort and route samples to the appropriate laboratory sections (molecular, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.).
  • Flag and resolve discrepancies, missing information, or damaged samples with the concerned team.

Documentation & Quality Compliance

  • Maintain records of daily accession logs, courier manifests, and pending samples.
  • Ensure compliance with NABL, ISO, or other laboratory accreditation standards.
  • Assist in preparation of reports, inventory records, and quality audits when required.
  • Follow all biosafety and sample handling protocols strictly.
  • Coordination & Communication Liaise between lab staff, phlebotomists, and clients to ensure timely testing and report delivery.
  • Communicate with clients regarding test status, sample requirements, or missing documentation.
  • Support administrative tasks such as billing, report printing, and courier management.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, or Medical Lab Technician (MLT), or equivalent.
  • Experience: 0–3 years in a diagnostic/research laboratory or healthcare setup (freshers with strong communication skills can apply).

Technical Skills

  • Familiarity with LIMS or other lab data entry systems.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory processes and biospecimen handling.

Work Environment

  • Laboratory accesioning and sample reception area.
  • May require working with biological samples following safety and hygiene protocols.
  • Standard working hours; occasional weekend or shift duties may apply depending on lab operations.
