Role Description

Freelance Senior Data Modeler / Data Architect

conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling

Responsibilities

  • Independently design and deliver

    conceptual, logical, and physical data models

    for supported platforms (SQL DW, Spark, Databricks Delta Lakehouse, Snowflake, Redshift, Synapse, Teradata).
  • Govern

    data design and modeling practices

    , including documentation of metadata (entities, attributes, business definitions) and creation of database objects for baseline and funded projects.
  • Develop a

    deep understanding of business domains

    (Customer, Sales, Finance, Supplier, Technology Inventory) to create reusable and domain-driven data models.
  • Drive

    collaborative design/code reviews

    , ensuring data product design covers security, scalability, and business objectives.
  • Show expertise across all data types —

    low-latency, relational, unstructured, analytical, data lakes, and SAP data models (HANA, S/4HANA, Retail, IRI/Nielsen Retail)

    .
  • Develop

    reusable, cloud-first data models

    and mappings to maximize efficiency and reuse.
  • Partner with

    data stewards

    to enable business-friendly discovery and actionability of enterprise data.
  • Support

    data analysis, requirements gathering, solution design, and reviews

    for enhancements or new applications/reports.
  • Assist with

    data sourcing, profiling, transformation, and lineage mapping

    .
  • Create

    Source-to-Target Mappings (STTM)

    for ETL and BI development teams.

Required Skills

  • Strong expertise in

    data modeling tools

    : ER/Studio, Erwin, IDM/ARDM.
  • Experience in

    consumer packaged goods (CPG), manufacturing, sales, finance, and supplier/customer domains

    .
  • Hands-on with at least one

    MPP database technology

    : Databricks Lakehouse, Redshift, Synapse, Teradata, or Snowflake.
  • Proficiency with

    GitHub (version control)

    and

    CI/CD tools

    for deployment.
  • Experience in

    metadata management, data lineage, and data glossaries

    .
  • Working knowledge of

    Agile development, DevOps, and DataOps

    .
  • Familiarity with

    SAP data models (HANA, S/4HANA, Retail, IRI/Nielsen Retail)

    .
